Schedule for reference: 

Day 1: China—New Delhi

Assemble at the airport and go to the capital of India, New Delhi, by air. Have a rest at the hotel after arrival. 

Meal: Breakfast (self-care); lunch (self-care); Dinner (self-care). 

Accommodation: A local five-star hotel (hotel for reference: Country inn,Raddisson or the hotel at the same level). 

Day 2: New Deli—Varanasi

Go to Varanasi by air in the morning. After lunch, visit the Bharat Mata Temple, the only temple of the Indian Earth Mother. There is no Buddhas inside the temple, but a hypsometric map of the whole of India carved out of marble, about the size of a basketball court. 

Then go to Sarnath, one of the most important Buddhist sites of India. The Sarnath is one of India’s significant Buddhist sites and the well-known Buddhist holy land. It is said that Sakyamuni completed his first discourse here, along with another five Buddhist monks. They are the earliest Buddhist group in the world. 

Next, go to the Archaeological Museum, which houses collects cultural relics unearthed in Sarnath, including many treasures of the Indian Buddhism art, like the over 300 pictures. This region also unearthed lots of statues of different ages. Among them, the most distinguished is the Lion Capital of Ashoka, now the emblem of India and the treasure of the museum. 

Watch the grand prayer ceremony in the Ganges River.

Shopping: the local handicraft shop for 30 minutes.

Day 3: Varanasi—Khajuraho

Take a boat on the Ganges River and watch the sunrise. 

Then go to Khajuraho by air and visit the famous Khajuraho Group of Monuments. Almost the wall of every temple has sculptures about sex, which is the reflection of Hindu teachings upholding fertility. In the 19th century, the Khajuraho was excavated from the ruins, and now it only preserves over 20 temple architectures. It has high artistic value and is placed on the list of the World Cultural Heritage. The current Temple of Love complex is divided into the east temple complex and the west temple complex and the latter one is very magnificent. 

Shopping: local handcraft about 30 minutes.

Day 4: Khajuraho--Jhansi—agra

After breakfast, drive to Jhansi and visit the beautiful Orchha Fort Complex (visiting time for of one hour). It mainly contains two parts, the smaller one is the palace of the king of the local Hinduism and the bigger one is built to welcome the emperor of the Islamic state. Therefore, it blends the architectural style of Hinduism and Islam. 

In the afternoon, go to Agra by train. Have a rest at the hotel after arrival. 

Meal: Breakfast (buffet); Lunch (buffet); Dinner (buffet). 

Accommodation: A local 4 or 5-star hotel (hotel for reference: Foutpoint Sheraton, Sarovar or the hotel at the same level). 

Day 5: Agra—Jaipur

Appreciate the sun rise in Taj Mahal in the morning and then visit Taj Mahal (closed on Friday). It is a huge mausoleum mosque built with white marble, and was  built under the command of the Emperor of Mughal, Shah Jahan, to commemorate his beloved concubine. It stated from 1631 and finished in 1653. It is the perfect treasure of Indian Muslim art and one of the masterpieces of the world heritage, known as the “Perfect Building” and the “Pearl of India”. 

Then visit the Agra Port (visiting time of at least 90 minutes). The Agra Port, along with the Taj Mahal across the river, is a testimony of an immortal love story. 

Go to Jaipur after lunch (about 230 kilometers, a 5.5-hour drive), and have a rest after arrival. 

Shopping: cappa and carpet shop about 30 minutes; marble handicraft shop about 30 minutes

Meal: Breakfast (buffet); Lunch (buffet); Dinner (buffet).

Day 6: Jaipur

After breakfast, visit the Amber Fort (visiting time of at least 120 minutes). Firstly built in 1592 by Emperor Man Singh, the Amber Fort was the ancient capital of Jaipur. Composed of palaces of different ages and built along the mountain stream, it is quite stunning. The most famous palace of Amber Fort is the Sheesh Mahal built in 1675. The numerous mirrors on the wall, under the reflection of the sunlight, make the whole palace sparkling and dazzling. 

Then go to the Palace of Winds (visiting time of at least 15 minutes). The Palace of Winds was built in the middle 18th century and its pink walls and numerous windows  attracted lots of attention. Every time when the bright moon hangs high in the sky, the whole palace will glitter, so it is also called the “Moon Palace”. 

Then visit the Jantar Mantar (visiting time of about 40 minutes). The building, built in 1728 by Jai Singh, is an observatory with a variety of strange sculptures. Every instrument inside the observatory can be used for special purposes, such as measuring the location, height, and azimuth of stars, calculating eclipse and so on. Some of the instruments are still in use. 

Then go to the City Palace (visiting time of about 80 minutes). Located in the center of the old city, it is one of the best preserved historical sites in India. This palace was built by Rajasthan in 1728 after surrendering to the Mughal Empire. The current king of Jaipur still lives in the palace. This royal palace consists of a number of palaces, almost accounting for a quarter of the old street area. 

Shopping: jewelry store about 30 minutes; Cloth dyeing 30 minutes. 

Meal: Meal: Breakfast (buffet); Lunch (buffet); Dinner (buffet). 

Accommodation: A local 4-star hotel (hotel for reference: Souvenior, Whimspring or the hotel at the same level).

Day 7: Jaipur—Delhi

After breakfast, drive to the charming New Delhi and enjoy delicious lunch after arrival. In the afternoon, pass through the Hindu Residential Palace in the European style (view from the car), the Parliament of India (view from the car), and the Government Avenue resembling the Champs Elysees in Paris. 

Visit the India Gate on the Rajpath (visiting time for about 20 minutes). The India Gate, established in 1921 and designed by Edwin Landseer Lutyens, was initially known as “All India War Memorial”, in memory of the British Indian soldiers sacrificed in the World War I and the World War III. The shape of the India Gate is similar to the Arch of Triumph of French. 

Then visit the Tomb of Mahatma Gandhi (visiting time of about 30 minutes). Located on the bank of the Jumna river, it is the tomb of the “Mahatma” Gandhi, the father of India. The tomb is extremely simple without any ornaments. However, it attracts numerous people in white national costumes from far and near on holidays to mourn the host of the tomb. 

Then appreciate the Old Delhi. 

Shopping: the tea store 30 minutes; the perfumery 30 minutes.

Meal: Breakfast (buffet); Lunch (Chinese restaurant); Dinner (Chinese restaurant). 

Accommodation: A local 5-star hotel (hotel for reference: Country inn,Raddisson or the hotel at the same level). 

Tomb of Mahatma Gandhi

Day 8: Delhi—China

After breakfast, visit the Akshardham (visiting time of at least 60 minutes). Built in 2005, it is a modern site with the functions of entertainment and religion. At a large scale, this religious architectural complex is included in the Guinness Book of World Records. It holds more than 20,000 gods and peculiar figure sculptures. 

Then visit the Lotus Temple (closed on Monday. Visiting time is at least 20 minutes, ). The shape of the Lotus Temple resembles the Sydney Opera House and they are known as “the two buildings that can talk to each other”.

Next, go to the Kingdom of Dreams. It is India’s largest, and most popular entertainment venue, where you can see models of splendid sites and distinctive architectures of India. It fully displays the cultural, ethnic and artist characteristics of all Indian cities. You are able to enjoy delicacy, go to bars, have massages, watch the most wonderful opera of India and purchase Indians featured handicrafts here. 

Then go to the airport. 

Meal: Meal: Breakfast (buffet); Lunch (buffet); Dinner (buffet).

Day 9: China

Go back home and end the delightful Indian classic trip.
