The luxury Rosewood Luang Prabang resort, the brand's second locale in Southeast Asia, has opened in northern Laos. The property was designed by Bill Bensley of the Bangkok-based BENSLEY design studio and features 23 tented villas.

The resort is modeled after the concept of a Laotian hill station from the turn of the 20th century, in which a French home would be opened to intrepid adventurers and travelers. Centered around a natural waterfall and river or elevated amongst the treetop foliage, the resort's accommodations range from riverside rooms and riverside suites to secluded riverside villas, waterfall pool villas and hilltop tents.

The resort's 246-sq.-ft. tented villas, a first for Rosewood, are on a hillside and were built to preserve the site's flora and fauna. Each features an oversized balcony with mountain and river vistas and are adorned with distinctive patterns and motifs from Laotian hill tribes.

Other on-site amenities include Sense, A Rosewood Spa; The Great House restaurant; The Elephant Bridge Bar; and an outdoor pool.

"Rosewood Luang Prabang is exotic, intimate and deeply respectful of the destination's culture, history and natural setting," says Sonia Cheng, ceo of Rosewood Hotel Group.  "This unique property is not only a wondrous expression of our brand's A Sense of Place philosophy, but also marks a key milestone for our group and its Southeast Asia expansion."

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts manages 23 luxury properties in 14 countries, with 16 hotels under development. Rosewood says it plans to double its number of properties by 2020.
